Calderara di Reno, 18 May 2023 – Aquila Clean Energy, a developer and operator of renewable energy projects, has obtained authorisation to build a photovoltaic plant in Calderara di Reno, in the Bologna district of Italy.
The PV plant will be built on an area of approximately 80,000m² and will consist of around 9,200 modules with a capacity of 6 MWp. When fully operational, it will produce approximately 8,6 GWh each year, avoiding CO2 emissions of 2190 tonnes and supplying electricity to around 3,200 households [1].
Aquila Clean Energy is the renewable energy platform of Aquila Group, which develops, realises and operates renewable energy plants throughout Europe with a capacity of approximately 9.5 GW.
Alberto Arcioli, Project Development Director at Aquila Clean Energy in Italy says: “Authorisation for the construction of this plant is an important milestone for our renewable energy business strategy in Italy, as it represents the first step towards materialising our portfolio in the country and contributing to Italy´s energy transition”.
Aquila Clean Energy entered the Italian market in 2020 and is present in the north central, southern and island regions of the country, with a portfolio of more than 70 agrivoltaic projects under development for a cumulative capacity of around 2.5 GW. These agrivoltaic projects entail the dual and mutually beneficial use of land for both agricultural purposes and solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation.
Aquila Clean Energy aims to contribute to the global energy transition and help achieve the world’s decarbonisation objectives. The company´s approach includes the engagement through dialogue of local institutions to align projects with local needs, including ad hoc measures designed to create a positive footprint in the territories where the company is present.
